🎶BUT IT'S ONLY MAKE BELIEVE🎶

...why do you think poseurs pose?Because they want to be invited to the dominion of the real, an almost magical zone of unselfed sensation, and they know their very desire for it disqualifies them. Lipsyte

Everything about the SW-Ohio-Brooksville cult, from its fictitious "dogma" of mortally sinful una-cum Masses to the intellectual failings of its undereducated "clergy," is contrived. Surrounding whatever the cult masters do, there's the noisome aura of self-conscious theatricality. It's as though they see themselves always on stage aping some one-act farce before the peanut gallery of a Podunk vaudeville house, where the lowbrow audience is too simple-minded to discriminate between appearance and reality.

The inbreeding cult "clergy" apparently regard themselves as the protagonists of their own unheroic mythological drama: their objective is not to be authentic but to be admired. Yet when the curtain rings down and greasepaint comes off, these self-obsessed mediocrities resemble nothing recognizable as genuine clergy of the Latin Church.  Instead, they form the Constitutive Other,  aliens to real Catholic identity, eternally outside the network of the Church Militant. Frighteningly, they are the non-Catholic Self.

Their Otherness doesn't make them exceptional, as they'd have you believe. Quite the contrary, in terms of educational attainment and intellectual gifts, they're an all-washed-up third-rate act. None is an honest-to-goodness churchman. Each just plays one on the boards during the weekly extravaganzas. But since most people, even many cultists, acknowledge the deceptive self-presentation, there's no cause to rehearse all Tony Baloney's errors in Latin, Tradzilla's linguistic howlers, and "One-Hand Dan's" liturgical absurdities. Nor need we remind our readership of Tradistan's sham "schools," pretend religious, and daffy rules rooted in a never-existing 1950s of a fevered imagination.

While most people can detect the dissimulations of scholarship or general education once exposed, they find it harder to discern the troubling affectations masked by the cult masters' "preaching." The "sermon" format is an ideal means to amplify pretense. Unlike correct Latinity, choice English diction, or liturgical orthopraxis (which demand specialized training in order to assess their authenticity), evaluating the content of the average, dumb-downed Sunday monologue is something most of the faithful trust they can do on their own.

To get a favorable response, all the churchly thespians have to do is dress in the right costume, thunder their message with conviction, and mouth something more or less consistent with what psychological weaklings think is Christian. Exacerbating the culties' gullibility is the Catholic cognitive bias that assumes anybody in a Roman collar practices and believes what he preaches.  Spell bound by the Sunday matinee performances, trad yokels are happy to dismiss the ominous signs of imposture and go with their usually-wrong gut.

The wily cult kingpins intuitively grasp that such witlessness is their ticket to the big time, their invitation to squat in the "dominion of the real." There, in disguise, they imagine they can conceal the naked self-interest coiled behind crudely wrought masks of false piety. Just fill the acrid cult-center air with Catholic-sounding platitudes or threats, and nobody's going to look beyond the cartoonish image. The alchemy of posturing transmutes, however implausibly, ragtag personae into "priests" or "bishops," tricked-out Quonset huts into "churches," and tribal fetish objects into sacred artifacts.

Insofar as by means of their "sermons" the cult masters lay claim to ownership of Catholic vocabulary, they're shielded from external efforts to cut short their grotesque masquerade. All they have to say to their naïve followers is, "Our enemies don't understand Catholic principles." Without a second thought, the cultlings willingly suspend disbelief, often in violation of what little sensus catholicus they may have possessed.

Quoting a bookshelf of moral theologians by tractate and subsection won't move cult zombies to see  through the "clerical" humbugs: Shock of recognition comes only if you have the right background. To the average cult rite-trash, moral theology is as impenetrable as good Latin, edited English prose, and liturgiology. To their ears, the grounded teachings of the Church's approved authors aren't nearly as Catholic as the brimstone-reeking content of the weekly harangues spat from cult pulpits.

Therefore, in order to unmask these disqualified poseurs, you have to make cultlings examine their "clergy's" behavior through a secular lens, albeit one with close affinities to solid Catholic ethical  principles.  Otherwise they won't — or, to be more precise, they can't —get the message.  In next week's post, we'll offer a very good example, one that should turn on the house lights, put an end to the cheap histrionics, and send the audience out to look for a real Catholic life, even if it is to be found at home alone.

  1. Hello Pristina Liturgica. You are right on the money with the above.

Just been told about your website. We are just appalled to know more about what is going on in these sede cults.Just been reading last weeks comments and what a breath of fresh air to hear some of the views of a former sede cleric Bishop Terrence Fulham.

What raised our anger was that comment of a former CMRI seminarian making several of his own observations

*Substandard food while the "rector" looked well fed. This is just typical of Cult leaders(look at Dolan and Sanborn)

*Manual work took priority over studies. We thought a seminary was where one was to train for the priesthood.

The worse one of all was the following.Perhaps someone else can let Pristina Liturgica know if this is correct

*A day before the so called end of years exams, the exam papers would be presented to the seminarians to read.Is this for real.Talk about a utter joke.

    Thank God for this website.blessings

Then you compounded your hypocrisy (and your ignorance) by stating that the Reader’s reply “does not sound Catholic.”

It is interesting to note on this blog that nothing is never talked about concerning the SSPV.We know the fact that some scandal has happened e.g not giving faithful Holy Communion because they attend other Traditional Chapels, etc.Apart from this,a real eye opener.Lets pray for those poor blind folk still at SGG and Brooksville.

We spoke cordially for a few minutes and he asked me my name. I told him: “Bro. Peter Dimond.” He immediately hung up the telephone and that was the end. I must admit that I was a bit frustrated that he hung up on me because I wanted to be able to bring forward certain facts and ask him certain questions. But, alas, I didn’t get that opportunity because of his cowardly action.

Before he hung up, however, he indicated to me that he believed that only baptized Catholics could be saved, which I found surprising considering how few priests hold this dogma today."

But my Bro Pete Dimond doesn't believe an answer when he gets one by his own testimony. So if he doesn't believe Bp. Terrance why should we - Bro Pete is the truth detector after all !

"A planned Conference is to take place in Paris on March 31st to lay the groundwork to depose Francis."

“The first or primatial see is subject to no one’s judgment. This proposition must be taken in the fullest extent, not only with regard to the object of infallibility. For in matters of faith and morals it was always customary to receive the final sentence from the Apostolic See, whose judgment no one dared to dispute as the tradition of the Fathers demonstrates. Neither was it ever allowed to reconsider questions or controversies once settled by the Holy See. But even the person of the Supreme Pontiff was ever considered as unamenable to human judgment, he being responsible and answerable to God alone, even though accused of personal misdeeds and crimes. (…) “God wished the causes of other men to be decided by men; but He has reserved to His own tribunal, without question, the ruler of this see.” No further argument for the traditional view is required. A general council could not judge the Pope, because, unless convoked or ratified by him, it could not render a valid sentence. Hence nothing is left but an appeal to God, who will take care of His Church and its head.”

A Commentary on the New Code of Canon Law Vol VII Rev. P.C. Augustine O.S.B., Herder, 1923 Pp 11 & 12

Having established the Catholic teaching on the matter what is really going on ? Francis will regularize the SSPX, stay on long enough to make sure the liberals don't tamper with it and then abdicate - this uproar over AL is designed to give him a plausible excuse to exit and sets up the excuse for the election of a "conservative" to get us all back on the Ratzingerian path once again. Delete
    21. It's fascinating to see how sedevacantists think that everyone has the same conception of Papal authority as they do. So if one accepts that Francis is Pope, sedes think that one must treat him exactly as they themselves would treat him (i.e., obey his every whim) if they accepted him as Pope. But isn't that the very crux of the disagreement between sedes and non-sedevacantist trads?

    22. Answer my question please.
If a man is validily ordained/consecrated like Bp.Terrance and believes the Novus Ordo and Jorge Bergoglio to be the Catholic Church and Pope, why isn't he incardinated into his Central Florida diocese?
Its odd to say "We have a catholic Pope,Hierarchy, and dioceses, yet I operate an independent church outside of their jurisdiction"
What's the point in all of this if the Church is operating smoothly?

      Delete
    23. Thank you for your question. Who says the Church is operating smoothly ? I certainly don't and up until quite recently neither did the largest part of Tradition namely, the Society of St. Pius X.

It was Archbishop Lefebvre who explained in "Open Letter to Confused Catholics" the brokenness of the Church in the 1970s and 80s and the insanity that reigns within officialdom.

However, we don't need the Archbishop anymore because the chaos is everywhere and Cardinals are pitted against Cardinals thanks to the current pontificate.

We don't even have to look at the areas where the pre-conciliar magisterium differs with that of the post-conciliar period.

One only has to look at the obvious contradictions between John Paul II's "Familiaris Consortio" and Francesco's "Amoris Laetitia" - the arguments no longer rest with Trads versus Modernists - the Modernists are in open warfare with each other.

In this climate how can the Church be said to be operating smoothly ?

      I wouldn't head towards a tornado, would you ?

    26. In Logic we learned: "A posse ad esse non valet illatio" which loosely translates that because something is possible it doesn't necessarily mean it will be actualized or can be inferred. Thus the existence of a 2 day conference in beloved Paris doesn't mean Bergoglio's on his way out. Check out the schedule at the Sorbonne and you'll see a whole host of different topics being discussed. None of them suggest the imminent removal of Francis.

As to why I'm not in the Diocese of St. Petersburg there are various answers to this question:

      (1) on a logistical level no formal process towards that goal exists.

      (2) Our former bishop who just retired was well known for being anti-Trad and he was just as much in private as he was in public. I can assure you.

      (3) The Church is in chaos - as I said above - one doesn't jump in the path of tornado - one gets out of its path and waits to see what's left after the damage has been done.

      (4) Archbishop Lefebvre used to say: "They want to excommunicate me from a church to which I never belonged." I have never been in the Official Church. He was also frequently asked after his excommunication to sort things out with Rome - Cardinal Gagnon comes to mind - he would always reply: "Fix the mess in the Church and there will be no more problems between us."

      (5) This church was started by a group of laity who listened to a lecture by Fr. Francis Fenton back in 1974 and again in 1975. When Fenton's organization faltered in the late 1970s the people briefly considered the question of going under the SSPX in the person of Fr. William Jenkins (no less) but the sentiment of the group back then was that they had always been independent and were not prepared to throw in their lot with the SSPX. Indeed with hindsight that was actually providential since this church would have been SSPV by now and sedevacantist.

      (6) Fenton's initial policy as stated in a document "Holding Fast" was that there was no intent to carry on a parallel church and as soon as Rome returned to normalcy he and his chapels would loyally submit to Rome. Fenton ended up a sede himself, but that policy of his in the last sentence substantially agrees with my own position.

Now I hope that constitutes an answer since I cannot see what remains to be covered.

    28. Not to put too fine a point on this thread's discussion, but by appealing to the first member of the logical maxim from which TF quoted, viz., ab esse ad posse valet illatio, "there is an inference from what is real to what is possible," traditionalist hopefuls might licitly infer from the existence of the Paris conference on the deposition of a pope the possibility of Bergoglio's removal.

      Delete
    29. How disingenuous of you ! the correct quotation was: "A posse ad esse NON valet illatio". 32. Anon .11:41 PM,

If your remark was directed to Anon. 10:04, then we must correct you. In fact, both 10:04 and Bp. Fulham quoted correctly.

The scholastic logical axiom reads in full ab esse ad posse valet illatio; a posse ad esse non valet illatio. That is to say, "An inference from what is real to what is possible is valid; there is no valid inference from what is possible to what is real." The one half of the axiom, which you wrongly insist is the "correct quotation," is only the invalid counterpart of the schoolmen's adage.

The meaning of this rule of modal inference is: We may infer a proposition about a possibility from an assertoric proposition making a predication about an existing state, but we may not infer the reverse. Or more simply put, it's permissible to argue from facts to possibility and to deny the validity of arguments proceeding from possibility to reality.

We can't speak for 10:04, but we we think we detected a little bit of tongue-in-cheek 'tude in the comment, because the axiom has more profound implications for metaphysics and epistemology than the comment suggests. Perhaps she or he will respond. Whatever the case or the writer's disposition, s/he did not err in the citation.

Thus as a Member of the Mystical Corpse of Christ you wouldn't have the time of day for Bishop Williamson or any other clergy opposed to the Official Church clergy yet continue to recognize their place in the Mystical Body.

As I see it the Mystical Corpse sedes are big on exteriors but short on theology - none of their clergy is a priest and bishop in good standing according to the Law of the Church neither are other Trads but somehow because they reject the visible head they enjoy a canonical mission not Trad cleric enjoys - totally fraudulent and bogus - but bogus theology seems to breed bogus clergy - so the case is moot.

In the case of Dolan, he is missing one hand on his head at his own Ordination, by ArchBp. Lef. Then there is the constant slight of hand that is undertaken each weekly collection as they convince the Parishioners to reach into their own respective pockets and support these money-changers.
Now that is a very tough act to follow, without knowing what one is doing.!

It would be very interesting to ask all those men who spend time there why they left, bet part was the low standards and major the food.Going through old adsums there must be many.

Have you PL been contacted in private about this.

The trouble is most folk in CMRI are braindead and could not believe their so-called bishop would behave like this.Well it is TRUE and there are other issues that I pray will come out.Prepare for a bombshell.

    1. Over the years we have heard similar reports.

  16. I think it is common knowledge that JPI was eliminated by the powers that be. There are many points of interest regarding his untimely death including no autopsy after such a sudden and unknown cause of death.

    1. Does Bergie think he's safe at Santa Marta? The curia's got more than a millennium of experience in handling problem pontiffs.

  17. Yep, you got that right! Choose your weapon, or in this case poison.

  19. Bishop Giles Butler (Franciscans Strict Observance)
have a mission Chapel in Union,KY.
You all should try them as their magazine "The Seraph' and Bishop Giles audio sermons seem Catholic and sensible.
I don't know these Clergy but its worth a try.If they had a chapel near me I would definitely give it shot.

    1. Do you know if he possesses multiple lineages or is he Thục-line only?

Although at present we consider the Thục line valid, we believe the safest course is to have as many lines as possible, just in case something else comes to light. Single lineages are fraught with dangers.

    3. We'd suggest he look for a bishop with multiple lines and ask to be consecrated sub conditione. If he does, he'll be in a much better position than Tradzilla, the Jellyfish, "One-Hand," and the Pivmeister. There are many good men out there with multiple lineages. Plus he should want to be sure he is in the Rebiba line of Apostolic succession.

    4. Bishop Vezelis was a Franciscan from 1955-1980.
      He trained his priests well.
Check out the Seraph magazine online and The Catholic hour radio Lubbock Texas.
These men know their theology they aren't amateurs.

    5. We don't know about Giles' training. Was he a student of Vezelis, or did he attend an approved Catholic institute of higher learning before he joined Vezelis?

    6. I don't know but I personally hope he didn't
The current mood of higher institutions of catholic learning is anti-catholic communist Jewish mysticism.

    7. Look into the online Seraph Magazine and the Catholic Radio Hour Lubbock Texas.(hosted by Fr.Joseph Noonan)
Bp.Vezelis trained his priests as he was trained.Bp.Vezelis was in charge of Franciscans in Korea for nearly 20 yrs.
I don't know these priests and yes Bp.Vezelis made a claim for jurisdiction that he didn't legally have as he had no church office.
That was a long time ago and their priests do not claim jurisdiction now that he is gone.
After reading and listening to their material I wish they had a Chapel near my city.
They are competent knowledgeable and intelligent.
It surprises me they aren't as popular as say Bps.Sanborn Dolan because they are much more grounded and Cayholic than the afore mentioned clerics.

    8. Dannie and Big Don aren't popular. They're just better known. But who wants that kind of publicity? And who wants to be associated with them? The Jellyfish, maybe, but that's all.

In our experience, the low-keyed independents are usually the best.
